Without doubt professional
carpet cleaning carried out on a regular basis will extend the life
of your carpet. Embedded dirt, dust and grit is a major contributor
to uneven wear of the carpet.
Inexperienced carpet cleaners may use unsuitable cleaning products and
procedures. Something as simple as not removing all detergent residue
that may be left within the carpet fibres will result in your carpet
getting dirtier quicker than it ever was before it was cleaned. Great
for the carpet cleaning company ...if you engage them again!
There are two major carpet cleaning methods:
Dry Chemical Carpet Cleaning for example is relatively dry, not
completely but there is almost nothing wet in the process. Where there
is deep dirt and soil, this needs to be loosened with a pre-conditioner.
Then the carpet cleaning chemical is used, this is generally a chemical
similar to laundry detergent, a weak acid or solution is dusted into
the carpet and then worked deeper with a brushing machine. Then a drying
period takes place, about an hour, and then the entire floor surface
is vacuumed in order get almost all soils out of the carpet. If soil
remains, the entire process can be repeated without significant damage
to the carpet.
Dry Chemical Carpet Cleaning is deemed to be good for virtually every
type of carpet but usually best for high traffic places, such as public
areas. If it is not used with periodically deep carpet cleaning processes,
it should not be used in places where children play as some residue
may remain.
Fry Foam Carpet Cleaning. This is another dry procedure with
the advantage that the carpet can be walked upon fairly quickly after
cleaning. The carpet will need a powerful industrial vacuum to ensure
all grit, dust and dirt is removed. Then pre-conditioner is used to
loosen remaining soil that is stuck in the carpet. After that the machine
is used to create foam that is worked into the carpet.
When finished applying the dry foam, the dirt should now be well and
truly mixed into the foam, it must be allowed to dry before it is extracted.
